Meet Leah Boisclair

Hi, I’m Leah. I was born and raised right here in South County — This has always been and still where I call home. I grew up in a blue-collar family right here in South County, where hard work, honesty, and community were more than words — they were a way of life. My parents taught me that you earn what you have, you show up for others, and you treat everyone with respect, no matter who they are. Those lessons shaped me into the person I am today — someone who believes deeply in fairness, accountability, and giving people a voice.

I’ve carried those values with me through every chapter of my life. Whether it was in school, in my career, or in my community, I’ve always believed that if something needs fixing, you roll up your sleeves and get to work.

Today, I still call Charlestown home. I live here with my significant other, surrounded by family and friends who remind me every day what makes this place so special — our sense of connection, our small-town values, and our commitment to one another.

Education & Professional Background

I attended Narragansett Elementary and Curtis Corner Middle School before graduating from Chariho High School in 2007. After graduation I attended the Community College of Rhode Island, earning my Associate of Arts degree and then on to the University of Rhode Island for my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2017. After working to save up for tuition, I went on to Roger Williams University School of Law, receiving my Juris Doctor in 2019. After taking the bar, I became a licensed attorney in 2020.

Throughout my undergraduate years, I worked nights as a waitress at the Homestead Restaurant, in Exeter, and part-time as a paralegal at Gursky, Wiens & Shanley, assisting on workers’ compensation and union cases. During law school, I interned with The Law Office of John L. Calcagni III, gaining experience with criminal matters across multiple states. Upon graduating, I joined Attorney Calcagni’s firm full-time before opening The Law Office of Leah J. Boisclair, LLC in Cranston, in January 2025.

Running my own law firm has given me a deep appreciation for the challenges that small businesses face — from navigating regulations to keeping the lights on, meeting payroll, paying bills, and serving clients with honesty and dedication. I know what it means to work hard, take risks, and stand up for others, because I live it every day.

As an attorney, I stand up for people who often don’t have a voice, ensuring they’re treated fairly and their rights are protected. Every day, I see how our system impacts real people — and I fight to make sure every person is treated with dignity and respect. My work has taught me to listen, to advocate, and to never back down when something is unjust. That same passion for advocacy is what drives me to serve my neighbors in District 36.

Volunteering

I’ve also spent the past 15 years as a member of the Richmond and Pomona Granges and volunteering for the Washington County Fair. The Fair is a huge part of my life and is remarkably close to my heart. Each year I look forward to spending those five August days with the many friends and family members who volunteer their time with me to make the Fair a success for our community. The Fair brings together people from all over and helps fund more than two dozen non-profit organizations that are local and close to South County’s heart and soul.

How You Can Help

Why I'm Running

I’m running for State Representative because I believe we need more common-sense voices at the State House — people who know what it’s like to work hard, raise a family, and build a life in Rhode Island. Our politics have swung too far toward extremes, and it’s time to bring thependulum back to the middle — where real progress happens.

My heart has always been here in South County. I’ve worked and studied all over Rhode Island, but this is where my roots, and my commitment run deepest. I’m running for State Representative because our community deserves a leader who will fight for working families, support small businesses, and protect the character of our towns for generations to come.

My Vision

I want a Rhode Island where opportunity is within reach for everyone — where working people can afford to stay here, where small businesses can thrive, and where government works for the people, not against them. I believe in practical solutions, honest leadership, and bringing people together instead of driving them apart. That’s how we move forward — not as partisans, but as neighbors who care about our shared future.
