Meet Leah Boisclair | Lifelong South County Neighbor

Running for State Representative District 36

Hi, I’m Leah — a lifelong South County neighbor, small business owner, and attorney running to represent District 36. I grew up here, and this

community shaped who I am.

I went through our local schools, earned a political science degree at URI, and graduated cum laude from Roger Williams University School of Law in 2019. I’m licensed in multiple states and federal courts. Before opening my own firm, I worked on criminal and union cases — and then built The Law Office of Leah J. Boisclair, LLC from the ground up.

As an attorney, I stand up for people who need someone in their corner. That’s the same energy I’ll bring to the State House — listening, fighting for fairness, and making government work for everyone, not just the well-connected.

Protecting What Matters Most

 My Priorities for Rhode Island

  • People Before Politics

I’m running to put people — not parties — first. Too often, political games get in the way of real progress. I’ll work with anyone, regardless of party, who’s willing to come to the table and get things done for South County families.

  • Supporting Working Families And Small Businesses

As someone who grew up in a blue-collar home and runs a small business, I know what it’s like to work hard and still feel squeezed. I’ll fight to make Rhode Island more affordable — by supporting local businesses, lowering costs for working families, and ensuring that everyone willing to work hard has a fair shot to succeed.

  • Improving Education

Fair funding, recruit & retain teachers, support student mental health, better tech access in rural areas.

  • Protecting Our Land And Environment

Protect open space, farms, and our coastline — the heart of South County.

  • Restoring Trust In Government

People deserve leaders who listen, tell the truth, and put the public interest first. I’ll always be transparent, accessible, and accountable — because elected office is a responsibility, not a privilege.

  • Affordable And Accessible Health Care

More primary care access, lower costs, stronger mental health & addiction services.

  • Accessible Housing

Create more homes people can actually afford, support Housing 2030, and protect renters.

  • Improving Infrastructure And Transportation

Fix roads & bridges, invest in resilient infrastructure, expand transit for seniors.

  • Dedicated

Leah’s dedication runs deeper than her professional title—it’s a reflection of how she approaches every part of her life. From her years working to put herself through college and law school, to opening her own small law firm, Leah has always believed in hard work, perseverance, and purpose. She doesn’t shy away from challenges; she meets them head-on, with focus and determination. That same level of commitment is what she’ll bring to representing District 36—standing up for her community, showing up for every issue, and putting in the effort to make real progress for the people she serves.

  • Professional

Leah’s experience as both an attorney and small business owner has taught her the importance of professionalism rooted in respect and responsibility. She understands what it takes to manage people, balance priorities, and make tough decisions with integrity. Her years in the courtroom have refined her ability to think critically, communicate clearly, and advocate effectively—skills that translate directly into strong, thoughtful public service. As a State Representative, she’ll bring that same standard of preparation, ethics, and accountability to the job every single day.

  • Attentive

One of Leah’s greatest strengths is her ability to listen—not just to hear, but to truly understand. She values the voices of her neighbors and believes that effective leadership begins with empathy and attention. Whether it’s sitting down with small business owners, meeting with local families, or listening to residents at community events, Leah takes time to learn what matters most to people. She’s approachable, responsive, and committed to ensuring that every concern brought to her office receives the attention it deserves.

  • Caring

For Leah, public service is personal. Born and raised in South County, she’s seen firsthand how strong communities are built on compassion and connection. She cares deeply about the people who live here—their families, their livelihoods, and their future. Leah believes leadership should come from a place of kindness and understanding, where decisions are made with the well-being of others in mind. Her caring nature drives her to protect what makes our towns special, while ensuring every resident has the opportunity to thrive.

"It is time to bring the pendulum back to the middle, where politics is no longer about left or right, but about right and wrong."
