My Priorities As State Representative

Growing up in our District, I know firsthand the help our community needs. Our schools need maintenance, our roads need fixing, our tax burden is too high, our elderly community needs transportation, our land needs protection and the list goes on. Our voices must be heard. Change is not just needed but it is essential to ensure our lives and the lives of our children and generations to come can afford a home, get education, receive medical treatment, and more.

Land & Environment

Protecting the Heart of South County

“Our land and water define who we are. We must protect them not just for us,

but for every future generation of Rhode Islanders.”

I was raised to appreciate the natural beauty that makes South County unique — its beaches,

farms, trails, and wildlife. I know that protecting our environment isn’t a luxury — it’s a

necessity. I will work to preserve open spaces and farmland through smart planning and

conservation funding, ensuring that growth doesn’t come at the expense of our natural resources.

I support investments in coastal resilience projects that protect against erosion and flooding, as

well as clean energy initiatives that create good-paying jobs while reducing emissions. I will

collaborate with environmental experts, farmers, and local businesses to find solutions that are

sustainable and practical.

From protecting Narragansett Bay to supporting small farms that feed our communities, My

vision for the environment is about balance — protecting what we love today while planning

responsibly for tomorrow.

Healthcare

Accessible, Affordable, Compassionate Care

“We can’t have a healthy economy or healthy families without a healthy people — care must be within reach for all.”

In too many Rhode Island communities, seeing a doctor or therapist takes weeks — sometimes months. I know that health care should be easy to access and affordable for every family. I will fight to expand primary care services, especially in rural and coastal areas that are currently underserved.

I also believe that mental health and addiction treatment must be fully integrated into our health care system. That means investing in local counseling centers, ensuring insurance covers real treatment, and supporting first responders who often bear the emotional toll of addiction crises.

Prescription drug costs, rising insurance premiums, and hospital closures have put enormous pressure on working families. I will work to hold big corporations accountable, expand transparency in medical billing, and strengthen partnerships with community health organizations to improve outcomes for everyone — not just those who can afford it.

Housing

Safe, Affordable Homes For Every Family

“When housing becomes out of reach, so does the sense of community that defines South County.”

Housing affordability has become one of the biggest challenges facing Rhode Island families.

From young adults trying to rent their first apartment to seniors hoping to stay in their homes, the

dream of stability is slipping away. I believe that no one should be priced out of the community

they love.

I support Housing 2030 and smart-growth initiatives that create new housing options — from

starter homes to senior apartments — while preserving the character and natural beauty of our

towns. I will champion incentives for developers who build affordable units responsibly, protect

renters from unfair eviction and discrimination, and encourage partnerships between state and

local agencies to reduce red tape in the building process.

I also know that affordable housing isn’t just about price — it’s about safety, access, and dignity.

I will push for energy-efficient upgrades in public housing, more support for first-time

homebuyers, and programs that help seniors age in place with comfort and independence.

Infrastructure & Transportation

Rebuilding Rhode Island, Responsibly

“When we rebuild Rhode Island, we build opportunities that last generations.”

Rhode Islanders drive over aging bridges, pothole-riddled roads, and coastal areas that flood more often each year. I believe that investing in infrastructure isn’t just about concrete and steel — it’s about creating jobs, safety, and resilience for the future.

I will fight for more state and federal funding to modernize local roads, bridges, and water systems — with an emphasis on projects that use Rhode Island labor and materials. I also support “green infrastructure” initiatives that prepare our coastline for rising sea levels and protect communities from severe weather.

Transportation is another key part of my plan. Too many residents — especially seniors and those without cars — struggle to reach work, doctor appointments, or the grocery store. I will advocate for expanded RIPTA routes, better transit connections between rural towns, and programs that make transportation more reliable and affordable for everyone.

Education

Strong Schools, Stronger Communities

“When we invest in education, we’re investing in the future of Rhode Island’s families, workforce, and communities.”

My commitment to education comes from understanding that every child’s success starts in the

classroom. I will work to ensure that all schools — from the urban core to rural South County —

receive fair and equitable funding.Teachers are the backbone of our education system, yet too many are overworked, underpaid, and under-supported. I will fight to raise teacher pay, fund mentorship and training programs, and help schools recruit the next generation of educators.

In addition, I want to address the mental health challenges facing students today. I will support funding for in-school counselors and programs that help kids feel safe and supported both academically and emotionally. Technology access is another top priority — ensuring that students in every zip code have the devices, internet, and digital literacy they need to thrive in the modern classroom.

Energy

Responsibly Focused Solutions

Energy in Rhode Island is defined by a heavy reliance on natural gas, leading to high and volatile electricity prices, a grid vulnerable to extreme weather, and the complexities surrounding renewable energy, particularly large-scale offshore wind development. These issues directly impact South County, where residents and the coastal economy are affected by rising costs, potential environmental impacts of offshore wind, and grid instability.

One of my top priorities is tackling Rhode Island’s energy problems with honesty, balance, and long-term vision. For too long, our state has faced rising utility costs, unreliable infrastructure, and a lack of leadership willing to make practical changes. Families are struggling to keep up with electric bills, small businesses are squeezed by high energy expenses, and too much of our power still depends on out-of-state sources. We need to fix that by modernizing our grid, andsupporting innovation that lowers costs while protecting our environment. But energy reform isn’t just about technology—it’s about fairness and foresight.

We can’t afford policies that leave working families behind or drive up costs for those already struggling. My goal is to bring people together—residents, business owners, and environmental experts—to find solutions that make sense for Rhode Island’s unique needs. By focusing on both sustainability and affordability, we can build an energy system that strengthens our economy, creates local jobs, and ensures every household has access to clean, reliable, and affordable power.

Economic & Social Concerns

Investing In Our Future

Rhode Island’s economy and social fabric are under real strain. One of my core priorities is

addressing the deep social and economic challenges facing Rhode Island. Too many hardworking

families are living paycheck to paycheck and young people are leaving the state in search of

better opportunities. Small businesses — the backbone of our local economy — are being

squeezed by high taxes, regulations, and worker shortages and too many of our neighbors are

being left behind, facing barriers to affordable housing, childcare, and healthcare.

My goal is to help rebuild the foundation of opportunity that Rhode Island was once known for.

That means investing in workforce training, supporting small businesses, and ensuring that every

community—from our cities to South County—has access to the tools needed to thrive.

Economic growth and social progress go hand in hand; when we lift people up, we strengthen

our entire state. By putting people before politics and solutions before slogans, we can create a

Rhode Island where fairness, stability, and opportunity aren’t privileges—they’re promises.

It’s time to focus on policies that make Rhode Island more affordable, strengthen our workforce,

and rebuild the middle class. By putting people first and bringing common sense back into our

decision-making, we can create a state where everyone has the chance to thrive.
